What is cloud computing?

Cloud computing is one of those phrases that everyone throws around these days, but not everyone knows what it means. It’s easy to confuse cloud computing with other cloud based technologies, such as cloud storage and cloud applications. This post will attempt to clear up some of that confusion.

Can you earn a certification in cloud computing?

Yes, but it takes time and commitment. In order to get certified as an Oracle Cloud Architect or Administrator, you’ll need to take both free and paid courses, study thousands of pages of materials and pass rigorous exams. In some cases, you may also have to work as an intern or apprentice before becoming eligible for certification. However, these certifications will bolster your employment opportunities immensely even if you decide not to pursue a career in cloud computing!

What are the benefits of getting certified?

Cloud computing is on track to become an essential element of IT for both small businesses and large enterprises. Cloud computing offers several benefits, including flexibility, cost savings and scalability. Additionally, cloud computing certifications offer individuals a way to prove their skills and expertise to employers while making more money. In fact, according to one survey of IT professionals by Insight Enterprises Inc. cloud computing certifications can lead to higher pay approximately $15,000 more per year on average.

How do you prepare for a certification exam?

The best way to prepare for a certification exam is to make sure you understand everything about cloud computing that’s taught in school. If you take classes on cloud computing, take thorough notes and go over them before your exams. If you don’t have access to formal classes, try taking an online course or start studying from other materials such as textbooks or video tutorials.

Where do you start?

You may be wondering where to start if you want to earn cloud computing certifications. If you’re currently employed, check with your employer; many big companies now offer employee benefits that include free education and certification training. However, if you don’t work for an employer who offers professional development benefits, there are plenty of other ways to get started earning cloud computing certifications. There are also all sorts of different classes, both online and in person.

What do you study first?

With so many options to choose from, it can be tough to know where to start. Cloud computing certification is an excellent choice for those hoping to take their tech knowledge and turn it into an income stream. It’s also a wise choice given how quickly cloud technology is advancing: Certified professionals will always be at least one step ahead of their competition.

What books should I use to learn?

It depends on what you want to do with it, as well as what you know so far. To get started, I’d recommend either The Cloud For Dummies or Cloud Computing Essentials. Also, a number of excellent online resources exist for learning about cloud technology, such as Amazon Web Services University and Microsoft Virtual Academy. Alternatively, you could try browsing web development forums to see if there are any experienced people who are willing to help answer your questions.

Where can I find questions to practice with?

Quora, Twitter, Stack overflow, Reddit and on answer sites. To find what type of questions are on Quora, type in Quora Questions + insert subject. So I would look for questions about cars or writing. The answers to these questions are usually good for inspiration for posts.

Who offers these certifications?

Depending on where you live, there are multiple organizations that offer certifications. The most well known is probably Cisco, which offers both Cloud Certifications and Networking Certifications. Other common providers include Microsoft, Oracle, RedHat and Amazon Web Services (AWS). There are many others as well. It’s worth it to do some research here to make sure you end up taking an exam from an organization that has a good reputation for fairness and quality control with their exams.

Which certifications should I aim for first?

If you want to prove that you have deep knowledge of specific technology, Cloud certifications are ideal. They’re industry recognized, hard to come by, and they act as great resume-builders and job differentiators. After all, employers will know you’ve been through extensive training. In fact, many companies look for candidates with at least one IT specific certification and some require them.
